It may be dysregulating to have a 3rd person traveling with you that you aren't used to considering and accommodating. Also sharing a hotel room is very intimate. Maybe some of that is being misdirected at each other.

German here! The traditional panelling is called Fachwerk and is an ancient construction technique where the building is supported by an exposed, load-bearing wooden skeleton. So it’s not just decorative (originally!) :) enjoy my home region!!
