@danbrandis: Imagine paying tens of thousands of dollars to LIVE on a cruise ship, only to find out your journey has suddenly stopped. That's the situation facing residents aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey. The residential cruise ship's operator suspended operations in Cambodia after fuel expenses reportedly skyrocketed. 🛢️ Monthly fuel costs that averaged around $1,800 per cabin reportedly climbed to $6,000–$8,000 in parts of Asia. 🌎 The ship began its continuous world voyage in 2024, with plans to keep sailing into 2027. 🏨 Around 203 passengers were aboard when operations were suspended, leaving residents facing uncertainty about their accommodations and the future of their voyage. The company says it's exploring restructuring options over the next 60 days, but there's no guarantee operations will resume. This is more than a canceled cruise. For these passengers, the ship was HOME. 💬 What would you do if the cruise ship you called home suddenly told you to leave in a foreign country? My wife and I considered this and felt the risks were too high. Glad we followed our instincts. No way this was caused by fuel costs alone.
