@respeckmygossip: 'FRIDAY' MOVIE UPDATE: Lawrence Lamont is about to experience how much can transpire between Thursday and Saturday. 📅🏡💥🎬 According to @HollywoodReporter, Lamont, who gained attention last year with ONE OF THEM DAYS, has been chosen to direct LAST FRIDAY, the first new buddy comedy film from New Line's franchise in 25 years. Ice Cube, who created the original movie series, is writing the script and producing, and will also star in the film. Bob Teitel and CubeVision's Michael Gruber are also producing. The original FRIDAY was directed by F. Gary Gray and starred Cube and Chris Tucker as lazy Craig Jones and small-time drug dealer Smokey as they dealt with growing troubles involving jobs, girlfriends, exes, family, and death threats on the streets of South Central Los Angeles. Cube wrote the script with DJ Pooh. The movie came out in 1995, became a cult favorite, and led to two sequels: NEXT FRIDAY in 2000 and FRIDAY AFTER NEXT in 2002. Cube wrote the sequels by himself and appeared in ALL THREE films (Tucker only appeared in the first one.)
