@drmurrayhospicevet: “Can I carry her? I’ve carried her her whole life.” Into the car. Up the stairs when her legs got tired. Back to bed when she couldn’t settle. For some families, helping carry their pet after goodbye feels like one more thing they can do for someone they’ve always cared for. If that matters to you, ask your veterinarian how you can help safely. If you’d rather stay inside or let someone else carry them, that deserves just as much understanding. You’ve already carried them through a lifetime. This one moment doesn’t have to prove your love. #petloss #petgrief #inhomeeuthanasia #petlosssupport #petaftercare

You’re amazing at what you do! My 15 yo girl passed in her sleep after a battle with cushings and cancer. My husband carried her to our car, then from our car to the vets car. She kept her blanket with her. We carried her up the stairs, to bed and to potty the last 6 months. The greatest honor and peace I’ve gotten from being able to carry her those final moments 🙏

when we had the hospice vet come to the house for my old dog Gus, we had him leave us with the body. we wanted to be the ones to clean him if he needed cleaning, and we buried him ourselves. he stayed on his bed as if he were sleeping for 15 hours until we were able to take him for burial. Every time I would walk into the room, I would stop and crouch by him and give his head a little pat even though I knew he couldn't feel it. when it was time, he had all of his family carry him out of the house to the car. he was a 115lb dog.

No One :
My Luna was 3. she died suddenly on Thusday the 22/10/2026. We rushed her to the vet while doing CPR, but there was nothing we could do. I feel her absence everywhere.
She's currently waiting to be cremated so she can be back where she belongs. At home with us who love her.
I've taken comfort in knowing she had the best day, running around and playing in the water with all the kids. I miss her so much.

When my cat passed away when I was 20 weeks pregnant with my first. I carried her into the vet and 2 days later, when she passed away in my arms, I carried her out to the car & I was the one to dig the hole and buried her

When our girl had to go a vet came to the house and gave us time with her after she passed and then allowed me to help carry her to the car. She grieved with us the whole time. She made it as easy as it could have been. I’m grateful to her always for that.

I carried my baby girl out, made sure she was comfy in her basket and blanket with flowers. Hardest moment of my life...putting her in the back of a strange car she didn't know.

when we lost our girl our vet said she would go and get the stretcher and I asked her not too. I asked to carry our girl to the van. Our vet was so understanding she asked if I wanted shoes. i didnt she got the door she let me take my time and she let me cry. i miss my baby but our vet helped me through more than she knows by letting me carry our girl one last time
