@h3artofthehome: So many people struggle with pie crust, and the pie holidays are coming up, so here are three tricks for my flaky all butter sourdough discard pie crust to make your pie life easier 🥧 PARCHMENT Your hands are warm, and warm hands melt butter, so folding the dough with parchment keeps those flat pieces of butter cold and intact, and those are what turn to steam in the oven and lift the crust into flaky layers. TOWEL A floured flour sack towel grips the dough just enough to keep it from cracking or sticking to the counter, and then you can use it to lift the whole round straight into the pan. I learned that in Home Economics class years ago and knew I needed to share it. PRETTY EDGE A scalloped edge takes nothing more than kitchen scissors and your fingertips, but it makes even a simple pie look unique. I pulled this trick from my tomato galettes, and it holds its shape in the oven because this all butter crust is sturdy enough to keep every curve. Have you ever made a scalloped edge? Tell me YES or NO in the comments 👇 The full recipe and a close up video of the scallop are on my blog.
