The knights: You don’t get it Merlin, if you die Canterlot is screwed. Arthur will kill all of us and then himself

Gray Cheshire9 :
Imagine a Merthur fic where the knights, not just the round table but all the knights, protect Merlin in less Arthur is around even after one day when Merlin has to protect all of them from one of Morgana’s spells and Arthur realizes that he loves Merlin and marries him

He’s their Merlin, and he’s ‘helpless’. They can’t go through that again…

Hope :
I bet after that happened they got very protective of Merlin anytime something went wrong when they were outside the walls of Camelot. And Arthur didn’t even have to ask them to, they just did it because they all love him and Mordred caught on.

Knights: Merlin, Merlin.. I don't think you get it mate. If you so much as leave and come back with a scratch on ye? We're fucked. Imagine what happens if you NEVER come back hmm? Might as well kill the whole Kingdom ourselves!

Gwaine was definitely freaked out by Merlin going missing in season 5 so I can believe it (even tho Gwaine’s been protective over Merlin since day 1, It must have still shocked him to his core to see him not come back and be basically pronounced dead to the entire court!)

I’m sure without any orders from him they knew had to protect the servant first , merlin is dear to them too he is their journey’s friend and cook for them and help them too , beside no one can handle arthur better than him
