Laid off from my engineering job in May 2025 used all my 401K by January 2026 , got my masters in engineering, I am trying to take care of me and my 2 kids , been on hundreds of interviews they will not hire me. All I can get is substitute teaching job. I just started that last month. All I think about is my mortgage ! I don’t want to move but I have to get a second job that goes with my kids school schedule or something. I pray it gets better for all of us because this did something to my mental health

Yep, lost my job in June. Thank God I own my house and had a 401(k) and a little money saved but my unemployment is running out so hopefully I’ll find something by February of next year

After 17 years at my agency, I was DOGE'd in June 2025; luckily, I had savings, so I took some time off to mentally recover. I applied for unemployment and lived well below my means, but I'm grateful that I started working again in June 2026. Prayers, not losing my faith, and my tribe helped me get through this difficult period. Sending healing vibes to all who were impacted 🙏🏾
