I am not a science guy but I think center of gravity of different weights against single weight will make it unbalanced.. correct me if I am wrong

its not about the amount of weight its the distribution

I’m a nerd, so I had to do the math. The side with the 25 and 2 10lb plates has an additional outward shift of the left-side plate center of mass 0.55”. At 135lbs, that results in an imbalance torque 25 lb-in. That imbalance equals the left side of the bar feeling 2.1lbs heavier than the right provided hands are centered properly.

It's probably relatively negligeable in this case, but while the weight is the same, the weight distribution would be different, which WOULD create an imbalance.

center mass wouldn't be at the middle of the bar

It woudl actually effect ur form because the weight would be distributed differently on each side

It throws the center of mass off, there’ll be more load on the arm you are lifting that smaller plate side with

derekhill1971 :
Center of mass will be different and each plate has a tolerance for the weight. More plates = more tolerance stack meaning the side with more plates has a higher chance of not weighing the same as the other side.

p011ar5 :
for people saying its not the same because its further from the center or whatever. unless you have bad form its the same since it will only effect it if the bar isnt level which is a bigger problem in itself.

whateverowo4 :
there's a thing called torque. the plates of 10 and 10 are further than the plate of 25, thus it creates an imbalance.

barto :
wouldn't multiple plates be heavier than one of the same weight since if there's multiple plates each will be farther and if they're farther from the center they'll weigh it more
