Hey thanks, video is making me have more self-awareness with my flying. I would say the power off 180 is good for very light airplanes. In the decathlon I add power as needed. As even a little power adds too much energy. I flew a T6 a few times and that I would have full flaps (best visibility), and a lot of power being used to maintain my approaches. I think pulling the power (especially for a stud) doesn’t give much room to adjust their approach. I used to be taught this in the 172 and would find myself going around or having to needlessly try hard to maintain a stable base to final approach

Today’s day and age everybody has an opinion that’s the problem with social media. I’m an aircraft mechanic and I see it all the time there’s 10 different ways to do something but people will argue 300 different ways. It’s just crazy.

Your videos and instructions are top notch. No power base to final can lead to a cross control (skidding) stall. Stick and Rudder is a good read, but it’s also nearly 100 years old. We’ve learned a lot since 1944 and have a lot more data now.

3 mile final power 1500 flaps every mile was how I was taught in 172 85-75-65 fully configured below 200 and stable or go around simple as that

Why do people need to over complicate things? If I’m holding a good approach speed but I’m too low, I’m gonna add power to decrease my rate of decent and get back on glide slope.

I passed my private pilot checkride last week and used your ground course for all my ground training and written test endorsement (along with other FAA resources too). I can confidently say that you are the best ground instructor/CFi out there. Came into all my flight lessons actually prepared with understanding of how things work and how to be safe. Greatest $50 I’ll probably ever spend on flight training. I sincerely recommend using his ground course or atleast watching his free playlist on YouTube for anyone starting or in flight training… I don’t think I’ll ever forget how to remember what BR means on a METAR, Baby rain Baby rain. SEEYUH!

One thing about flying is that every single takeoff, landing, etc is going to be different and require use of everything you as a pilot get to use to manipulate the aircraft. There is no way you are going to fly tight patterns allowing for power off approaches every time. It’s unreasonable for that person commenting on your video(s) to assume they can.

I have seen two ways for maintaining glide slope in 172 one is pitch push the nose stay within airspeed +10-5 or keep airspeed the same just pull or add power
