lol, you’re prob bluffing but I’m going to answer you in a lengthy comment since I’m colour blind. Just not in the way you’re describing it. I know essences like black or white. I know red but I can’t tell when a colour is maroon because to me, it’s going to look dark red. I won’t get into burgundy, turquoise, cyan etc cos that’s too much. But I struggle with blue and purple. Since there’s usually light blue or light purple but there’s also dark blue and dark purple. My Matric jacket was blue but I ordered a custom embroidered scarf that later turned out to be purple. I hid the order from my family so I only discovered from teachers who kept insisting that I remove the purple scarf. I can’t tell the difference between specific standard colours that either dims or lightens their hues or go through iterations. I can’t differentiate any forms of green (dark, lime etc) and in most cases, I’ll mistake it for brown. Pink is an easy one but for grey I prefer the lighter shade cos if it starts dimming, then we gonna have issues. I hate shopping in person at H&M because they don’t put clothing colours on the tags and when you ask staff…they’re always cold or full of attitude cos they think you’re being silly, wasting their time or taking them for ride. When I like something and wanna buy it, I have to take a picture and message my sister. NOW, here’s something that’s going to shock you… I’m a designer in journalism. Like my job is literally lead for social visuals. I’m good at matching colours when conceptualising even though I can’t tell what colours I used. I’m yet to meet someone that’s superior to me when it comes to typography. My visual eye is superior and unmatched. But I rely a lot on hex codes. A lot of people who are colour blind fall under specific categories like red-green or blue-yellow etc but for me…it’s like I have 25% of everything (Red-Green, Blue-Yellow, Monochromacy but only the reduced sharpness because I don’t have light sensitivity and last portion is reserved for normal deficiency). Since ubuza nyani - there’s three types of colour blindness. The common one they can’t distinguish between red,orange and green. The second one is a bit rare it’s between blue and yellow. Both these types they can still see colour but they can’t differentiate between them. It’s like there is a filter that tunes them into the same shad of the same colour qha the difference is in the depth of it . With the red,orange and green one it usually turns into a khaki green colour and it can be light or dark on depending on the actual colour. The most rare one is where everything is just shades of grey. I hope ndiyichaze kakuhle
