As a SAHM it is definitely not the same as being a single parent! Even if my husband comes home late after work I know he’s coming home so I can talk his ear off. [Tears of joy] I know that I have the financial security of him providing and I don’t have to worry about it. People just want to be included in everything. I’m sure being a single parent is not easy and people need to stop trying to compare.

My mom was a single mom and I’m a SAHM, and i will never compare myself to a single mom. We are not the same, and i respect the hustle and dedication to their children that single moms go through.

I was a SAHM before my divorce and a single mom now. Personally, both experiences were hard in their own ways. I think everyone’s experiences of being a SAHM and being a single mom are vastly different depending on circumstances. But I totally agree that it’s completely different! This was very well said.

This. I’m not a single parent but my husband was deployed and then I decided to stay at my location while he finishes retiring out in tx. It’s been 1.5 years, people keep saying I’m a single mom. NO. I work but I don’t ever have to worry about money. That alone sets it apart within itself. I have a taste of a single parent life but I will never say I’m a single parent. I am fortunate to have an amazing partner and February cannot come any sooner.

As a SAHM, I 100% agree. It is very hard being the one at home taking care of the household while dad is working all the time BUT I have no worries, financially. And when dad’s home we both parent & take care of the household. A single parent has to do it ALL & worry about childcare on top of that
