Bruno fell 35 feet to the road below. A bomb-sniffing dog jumped off a freeway overpass, breaking two legs and fracturing its jaw in an “unfortunate incident” that led to the K-9 being helicoptered to an emergency vet. The Park City Police Department released video documenting the incident on 15 September as it launched an internal review and requested an independent, external review, by Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). "Bruno is more than a police K-9. He's a partner, a companion, and part of our police family. From the moment he was injured, Officer Henderson and fellow first responders did everything they could to comfort Bruno and get him the care he needed. We're grateful for the outpouring of support for Bruno and his handler as he continues to recover." The video shows the two-year-old labrador, struggling to stand up before Mr Henderson, kneels and scoops him up. Bruno was then rushed to a vet in Salt Lake City where he underwent emergency treatment. The force said it “went well and he is officially on the mend” at home. “After everything Bruno has been through over the past few days, we are grateful he can begin the next part of his recovery at home, surrounded by the people who know and love him best,” it said. The package, called in as suspicious by a motorist, was found to be harmless road debris.
