I’ve had a manager that was this chill. I asked him for the next day off because my new pool finally finished filling up and getting to temp. I knew we had been overstuffed a lot recently so I asked him. His response was “call me 3 hours before start time. If we are staffed well enough you’ve got the day.” The next day I made the call and asked “should I get dressed for work or dressed to swim” to which he said “enjoy the day and drink one for me”

I wish I had a boss like this, I'm sick for 2 days with my throat killing me and me sounding like the walking dead, and when I get back in, "What's going on? you rarely call in sick" i have an ear nose and throat infection, and I work with food

Exactly what happened when I wanted a day off, what where are you going, nowhere, just want to chill in my apartment, request denied, you must DO something, so I did, I went to the Doctor and said I want to take a week sick leave due to emotional overload, so instead of 1 day off, I got 5....🤣🤣🤣

Agreed. Normalize not asking why they need a day off at all. Only thing you should ask is - do you have some kind of pto? Do you have a deadline or something important to be done? That's it that's all. Anything else is overstepping.

I don't ask for a day off. I don't take very many as it is and I usually know well in advance when I need one. the rest of the time I'm very flexible but when I have a day I need off, I need it off. I have something I'm going to do. so I don't ask I just tell them I'm not available this day. and it's my life so they don't really need to know why but I'll tell them if they feel they need. it's not like I have any burning secrets
