@a.r.t2185: Irene Miller, a 50-year-old mother from Kissimmee, Florida, was arrested and charged with four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm after leaving her four children (aged 14, 12, 11, and 9) home alone to attend a work trip in Las Vegas from October 18 to October 23, 2026. The situation came to light on October 21 when a 911 call was made after the 9-year-old brother was struck in the head by a falling dumbbell, requiring medical treatment at Celebration Hospital. While Miller claimed she arranged for a daytime babysitter from Tampa, the children were left unsupervised overnight. Detectives arrested Miller upon her return flight at Orlando International Airport on October 23, 2026, and placed the children in the care of their father. There's a lot of debate over whether it was appropriate for a 14 year old to watch the 3 younger siblings. I personally was babysitting three younger children, one of which was an infant at 14 years old and except for not being able to drive I was a perfectly capable babysitter of those children as I'm sure this 14-year-old was of her younger siblings.
