💭 Food for thought! We’re revisiting Section 20 because it’s such an important topic. It’s not simply about a parent saying yes or no. It’s about making sure they understand their rights, what they’re agreeing to, and having opportunities to ask questions and reconsider their options. 👨👩👧 But what is parental responsibility? Put simply, parental responsibility means the legal rights, duties and responsibilities a parent has towards their child. This includes making important decisions about their upbringing, education, health and welfare. Under Section 20, parents with parental responsibility don’t automatically lose it. The local authority accommodates the child but does not gain parental responsibility simply because the child is in foster care. A parent with parental responsibility who is able and willing to provide or arrange accommodation can generally remove their child from Section 20 accommodation at any time. 🤔 So here’s the question: If Section 20 is voluntary, why does Chloe still feel like she has no choice, even after Maya has explained it? And with Leo needing somewhere safe to stay, what would you have done differently in Maya’s position? 👇 We’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s keep the discussion respectful! ❤️

I’ve been qualified over 17 years now and I like this as a learning tool. I think it would be great to see more realistic interactions and the sense of peril, urgency, delays and challenges. Perhaps there’s time. I think it brings to life the precise process as it should go which is good.

I stand with social work because social media only shows the bad awful side of it not the workers spending hours worrying about theese children,tossing and turning worrying.
