@hiitsmekat: Day 15 - Princess’s first day indoors was pretty rough. She spent the night clawing at her bed and the door, pacing, and she even urinated on her bed. She finally settled down after she somehow got into the closet, which has become her new safe spot. She’s been in there all day. She hasn’t eaten yet. I know all of this is normal since she just spent over 2 years being outdoors. But it has been a tough 24 hours. I was able to schedule a mobile vet for Friday! A bit later than I wanted but I checked on her eye and it is looking better. Now I feel a bit silly for forcing her inside when it got better overnight 😅 can you tell what kind of mom I’ll be? 😂 But she’s here now. And hopefully we won’t have to use the trap we ordered for her. Hopefully once the vet visit is over, she can actually start to decompress and get used to being inside again. I know I’m starting way over with her trusting me. But I am willing to dedicate all the time in the world to this little girl. She deserves it. ❤️ As always thank you all for being here. You guys have been so kind to me and Princess and I am forever grateful. Also, sorry no voiceover today 😭 I have a migraine, but I know some of you prefer the captions! So maybe I’ll do a mix ❤️ #straycat #straycatsoftiktok #princessthecat #catrescue #catdistributionsystem

Remember the 3 months rule!! 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine and 3 months to feel at home

Like I said in my previous comment, I truly believe this was the universe's way of bringing you and Princess together. ❤️Maybe her eye improved because she was finally inside, away from the outdoor elements, where she could begin to feel protected again. And perhaps that little eye problem was simply the universe giving you the reason you needed to finally bring her home. Princess has had her entire world turned upside down, and right now she's frightened, confused, and trying to understand what's happening. The scratching, the accident on the bed, and hiding in the closet are all ways she may be expressing that fear and uncertainty. The fact that she's found a safe space in the closet is actually encouraging. Let her have that little sanctuary while she adjusts, and hopefully her appetite will return as she begins to relax. I'm so glad you've arranged for someone to come to her rather than putting her through another frightening experience. I know it's heartbreaking to see her so unsettled, but please don't measure her future by one difficult night. I truly believe there will come a morning when Princess walks out of that closet on her own, looks at you with trusting eyes, and realizes she's home. And when that happens, I hope you'll look back and see that her eye was simply the beginning of something beautiful. Sometimes the universe works in mysterious ways.🥰

We did this with a stray cat. She went to our basement for almost 6 months. Then one day, she came up on her own. Now she climbs into our bed and wants pets and cuddles. It’ll happen. Just takes time.

i think even if the trapping scared her - i sincerely doubt that it had a large impact. she already knows your scent is safe, you provide food, and that you haven't hurt her. that will stick! 🖤 rooting for you both

She needs a smaller space with the litter box a little closer. I would actually clean out the closet and put her bed and litter box in there. Try adding a little Cat Attract to the litter box. When u feed her put it a little outside the closet away from litter

You’re doing the right thing… But might I make a suggestion? When you’re first bringing an animal inside, it’s much better to use a small space like a bathroom or even a smaller bedroom than having them in a large room where they can roam. It’s helpful for them to feel like they can evaluate a small space and then expand their horizons as they become more comfortable

I’ve taken in 4 feral cats. Gained their trust outside but anytime you bring them inside they freak out. It’s inevitable. Just give them some time. I recommend some hemp calming drops in food. Add water to food as well as she may not be drinking as much. And sit in that room reading or something quiet for a little to keep her company.

Her eye looks way better than it did! And a mobile vet I think will be less stressful on her than having to go to one. You’re doing all the right things!

You are doing a great job and the right thing. She might be scared but she is so much safer inside. She will trust you! They are so smart and they realize quickly that you are helping them.

Do you have an amazon link or a venmo set up? Is there anything we could do to help make this process a little easier on you as well? I know how stressed you probably are trying to make everything perfect for her. I know im just a stranger online but I dont have the right words to say how much I appreciate you doing everything you can for this little girl.

I adopted a very skiddish outdoor cat. it took 3 weeks before he stopped hiding. 3 months before he came to us to spend time with us, and about a year before he would hang out on our laps. It is so difficult waiting so long, and seeing them upset, but I promise you, it's worth it- and you're doing great!

She's mad now but in no time she'll be obsessed with you. When mine first came home, she would not let me touch her. Now I can't sit without her begging to make biscuits on me.

put a radio or TV in there so she can get used to voices. there are also some amazing cat channels that play music or bird sounds and have pictures of squirrels and birds and mice. she might be a TV Watcher and that would be helpful too
