I highly recommend putting them up, have the kiddos have a say, they may want it exactly as Dad did it or they may want to try something new. I remember being out in the rain putting up the lights the year after, my neighbors came home while I was doing the last string and they came over to help so I could be done. It was dark, rainy and cold. My Mom didnt want to put anything up the year my Dad passed, no tree inside, and I finally put lights on the patio with some other decorations ( bear, presents and rocking horse) on hristmas Eve so when the nephews came over on Christmas there was something....plus my Dad loved Christmas, had to do it for him. Years later my Mom told me she regretted not doing anything that year for Christmas, she didnt have the heart to do it but it made her more depressed without anything up. Everyone grieves differently, I saw it as a way to honor my Dad and insisted on doing something but she couldn't bring herself to do it. very different situations, with the kiddos being so young, maybe honoring some traditions and building new ones in the process. I look forward to see how you decide to decorate, if at all. I understand it may feel looming right now, the anniversary, sending well wishes for new happy memories for you and your family.
