My mom is a dv survivor who has spent the past 42 yrs in prison, for self defense against her abuser, my father, whom did not live in to continue hurting us. She was sentenced to life without parole in 84 (I was 4) and Friday she got the call that her sentence is being commuted! Still another yr at least, but she is coming home!! I don’t know why I wanted to share here, u just kinda remind me of her. She is a badass just like you!

If I didn’t leave my abuser, I would be dead right now. He put a boom boom stick in my face and whipped me with it and put it back in my face and said what would happen if I pulled this trigger right now nobody knows you’re here. Nobody knows where you are and he was right if I didn’t fight my way out of that right then, and there I would be dead right now.

I left one abuser late September and another October. My mum went into a second hand store and chatting to the women there they said this time of year they meet so many people leaving/disclosing abuse at this time of year 💔💔 October is fitting in my experience and observation ! I can’t believe how many people have experienced it, when I opened up about mine I was basically told to shhhhh or was blocked. No one wanted to know, understood or really got the gravity of what it does to our body, brain and children 💔 I’m forever damaged and suffering daily even tho I’m in a good and safe space. No one warned me the toll those behaviours would take on a person. I warn everyone get out when you can before you get too damaged or lose you life.
