Read that slowly. Maybe you’re waiting for them to apologize so you can finally feel like you mattered. Maybe you’re waiting for them to regret losing you so you can finally believe you were worth keeping. Maybe you’re waiting for them to admit they were wrong because, deep down, you’re still questioning whether you were enough. And here’s the part that hurts: What if you’ve been asking the person who wounded your self-worth to be the person who restores it? Three hard truths to sit with: 1. Their inability to recognize your value does not mean you lacked value. But if you keep needing them to recognize it before you can believe it yourself, they still have influence over how you see yourself. 2. You can be genuinely hurt by someone and still be responsible for the ways you continue hurting yourself by replaying the past, abandoning your boundaries, or putting your life on hold. 3. Sometimes, letting go means grieving more than the person. It means grieving the hope that their return, regret, or apology will finally quiet the doubts you’ve carried about yourself. Now look a little deeper. What are you hoping their return would prove? That you’re lovable? That you weren’t replaceable? That you weren’t the problem? That losing you was their mistake? Because if your peace depends on them eventually reaching a particular conclusion about you, you’re still waiting for someone else to write the final verdict on your worth. You don’t have to pretend you weren’t hurt. You don’t have to excuse what they did. And you certainly don’t have to welcome someone back to prove you’ve healed. But you do have to ask yourself whether you’re ready to stop making your recovery dependent on a realization they may never have. The deepest part of healing is realizing that you don’t need the person who made you question your worth to agree that you have it. Their story about you is theirs to tell. Your responsibility is to stop letting it become the story you tell yourself. If you’re ready to start your healing journey, click the link in my bio. I have free resources available to help you begin doing the deeper work within yourself. And if you need more personalized support, I also offer one-on-one calls as a certified life, health, and relationship coach. This page is dedicated to helping people navigate heartbreak, attachment wounds, emotional pain, self-awareness, and deep reflection through brutal honesty, psychology, faith, and inward healing. Follow me for a deeper look within yourself where hard truths meet self-awareness, healing replaces self-abandonment, and understanding yourself becomes the key to unlocking the life God intended for you. #pain #meaning #mindet #chriscarrillo #mirror
