@mooretznrxv: If your baby won't stop crying, follow this calming ladder. Start by checking the 'boring four': ensure they are not hungry (over 2 hours since last feed), wet or dirty, too hot or too cold (feel the back of their neck), or awake too long (under 8 weeks, 45-60 minutes). Next, work down the ladder one step at a time. Pick up and hold them close, upright and chest to chest, for 2 minutes. Then, swaddle them with arms in, snug chest and loose hips, until they roll. Introduce white noise, loud-ish from a fan or tap across the room, not by their ear. Follow with slow, rhythmic movement, swaying gently without fast bouncing. If crying persists, try the last three steps: change the room for different light and temperature, go outside for cold air (which can reset almost everything), or offer a dummy if feeding is established and they are safe from birth. You can also put them down safely on their back in an empty crib and step away for two minutes. The crying curve climbs from week 2, peaks around week 6, and falls away by week 12, often being loudest in the late afternoon. #newborn #firsttimemom #cryingbaby #newmomlife #babycrying
