@black.georgia.hid: Where a county park now stands in Milledgeville, Georgia, a state prison farm once ran on the labor of mostly Black prisoners. It opened in 1899 and became largely self-sufficient across more than four thousand acres. After the farm closed in 1937, the last building was demolished in 2018. On May 19, 2026, a historical marker was dedicated at Walter B. Williams Jr. Park to remember this site and its complex history. What stories lie beneath the places where your community now gathers? 🌳 #historicalmarker #georgiahistory #preservinghistory #civilrights #localhistory
