@bossnursekate: 🚨 POSTPARTUM PREECLAMPSIA AWARENESS 🚨 Just because you’ve delivered your baby doesn’t mean you’re out of the woods. ❤️ As a registered nurse, I knew about preeclampsia. But I never imagined I would be the one experiencing it. My blood pressure was completely normal throughout my pregnancy, often around 105/60. Then, almost TWO WEEKS after giving birth, my blood pressure skyrocketed to 191/112. I ended up back in the hospital, receiving magnesium to help prevent seizures, and was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia. The scary part? I had already brought my baby home. I thought the hardest part was behind me. ⚠️ PLEASE KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS: * Severe or persistent headaches * Blurred vision or seeing spots * Sudden swelling, especially in your face or hands * Pain in your upper abdomen * Shortness of breath * Elevated blood pressure Postpartum preeclampsia can develop even if you had PERFECT blood pressure during pregnancy. It most commonly happens within the first several days after delivery but can develop up to six weeks postpartum. A blood pressure of 160/110 or higher is a medical emergency. Don’t wait for symptoms to appear. I’m sharing my experience because I want other moms to recognize the warning signs and take them seriously. We spend so much time making sure our babies are healthy, but MOMS MATTER TOO. ❤️ Please share this. You never know which new mama might need to see it. #PostpartumPreeclampsia #PreeclampsiaAwareness #PostpartumHealth #MaternalHealth #MomsMatter
