@thesportsontap: In eighth grade he went from 5 foot 9 to 6 foot 3 in less than a year. Here is how he describes it. "I was hurting. My knees, everything." Here is the part you will not forget. There is a mirror in his bathroom. Every morning he stood at that sink brushing his teeth. Two weeks in, he could see the top of his own head a little bit less. Four weeks in, he could only see his chin. And then he was above it. Gone over the top of his own bathroom mirror, in two months. Tonight AJ Dybantsa played his first NBA game. He went for 19 points on 8 of 12 against Cleveland, with nine of them in the first quarter. He had missed Washington's first four games with a sprained ankle. Washington lost. Go back, because the growing is only half of it. He picked up a basketball at five but did not take it seriously until the pandemic shut everything down. There were no indoor courts open, so he went outside and did three workouts a day in a mask. Here is what he says about it. "COVID made me snap, on God." And here is what his life was. "I would just sleep all the time. Sleeping, eating, and hooping." He blew up his freshman year and left Massachusetts for prep school in California. Then the other thing started. He went to a party, walked in standing head and shoulders over the entire room, turned around and left. Here is why he does not go out much. "Like Kevin Hart, people know who he is, but if he walks around with a hoodie on, you probably wouldn't be able to tell it's Kevin Hart." "Me, I'm 6 foot 9. So people are looking at me, regardless." Be straight about it. One good first game is one good first game. Washington lost, he is a rookie, and people have called this kid the next everything since he was 15 years old. But a boy stood at his own bathroom sink and watched himself rise out of the top of the glass in two months. Tonight that same body played in the NBA. #NBA #nbanews #nbabasketball #hoops #nbatiktok
