Something incredible happened yesterday. After completing our 800km expedition through the Congo Basin, I was invited to meet the Republic of Congo’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Jean Claude Gakosso, in Brazzaville before flying home. He told me my name preceded me, that he’d followed my adventures and even the President had heard about our journey. What an honour! 💙 Huge thanks to Prince Bahamboula (Ministre délégué chargé de l’Industrie Touristique). Our expedition has reached millions worldwide, shining a spotlight on a region so often misunderstood. And THIS is why I explore. It’s never just been about world records, survival or pushing my limits. It’s about giving something back to the places and people who welcome me. 🇲🇳 Mongolia: Raising awareness and funds to protect nomadic communities facing climate change. 🇲🇬 Madagascar: Supporting biodiversity conservation, then becoming a Tourism Ambassador to promote the country. 🇸🇷 Suriname: Working with Cher and Free the Wild to highlight its extraordinary wildlife and the need to protect it. 🌍 Malaria No More UK: Serving as an ambassador, raising awareness of the fight against malaria. And now, the Congo Basin. 🇨🇬 Extraordinary wildlife, breathtaking rainforest, remote communities and some of the warmest people I’ve met. A place that deserves to be known for more than negative headlines. To think our team of three, paddling a remote African river, made enough noise to reach the highest levels of government is something I’m immensely proud of. Not for the recognition, but for what it represents: millions discovering a different side of the Congo Basin. If I leave a country having inspired people to appreciate its culture, communities, wildlife and natural beauty, that means as much to me as any world record. Thank you to the Minister for the warm welcome and for recognising our mission. What a privilege. What a journey. What an incredible country! 💙🇨🇬 Adventure with purpose. Always. 🌍
