@nbcla: 🚨 THREE major public safety leaders retiring in Long Beach… just weeks apart. And the Olympics are less than TWO YEARS away. Long Beach Fire Chief Dennis Buchanan announced his retirement after more than 30 years of service, just one week after Police Chief Wally Hebeish announced he’s stepping down at the end of December. And there’s a THIRD departure. The city’s longtime Director of Disaster Preparedness, Reginald Harrison, also retired this month. The timing raises some big questions. These departures follow significant budget cuts to police and fire, as Long Beach prepares to host multiple events during the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Mayor Rex Richardson thanked Buchanan for his decades of service and says the city will build on his leadership as it prepares for LA28. But here’s the big question: Who will lead Long Beach’s police, fire and emergency preparedness operations into the Olympics? What do you think about these leadership changes?
