I’m really confused what people expect people to do about the whale swimming into a 200+ foot boat. It’s not like the ferry steered into it…

This Humpback Whale was 'Notcho' who was unfortunately struck by a BC Ferry. He lived between here and Hawaii.

It’s 2026 now, there should be better detection for marine animals.

I’m a daily ferry commuter on the Coup/PT route. We regularly veer off course or stop completely when there are whales spotted. No one would ever harm them intentionally. They are protected and loved here.

I keep seeing comments about how the ferries are at fault, you do realize they do their best to avoid the whales, but whales animals who are alive and swim around

They delivered the deceased whale to Squamish Nation in West Vancouver so they can do a ceremony for it.

The cuts in the video make it a little hard to determine if the boat just hit it or passed by it

Notcho on his last journey. The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw nation are carrying out the proper ceremony for the loss of Notcho as the whales are sacred. This was him being towed to his final resting place in West Van

I wonder out of all the comments condemning the ferries buy fast fashion items that requires cargo ships to cause this type of incidents all well just not cover much on international waters
