@rsb.222: From Where Should We Perform Umrah: Masjid Ji‘ranah or Masjid Aisha (رضي الله عنها)? Both Masjid Ji‘ranah and Masjid Aisha (at Tan‘im) are recognised places from which pilgrims can enter into Ihram for Umrah while staying in Makkah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Umrah from Ji‘ranah, as reported in Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, Hadith 935. This is a beautiful example from his blessed life. Similarly, the Prophet ﷺ instructed his companion, ‘Abdur-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr (رضي الله عنه), to accompany ‘Aisha (رضي الله عنها) to Tan‘im so that she could perform Umrah. This incident is recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 1784. My personal perspective and humble recommendation: Those who are physically fit and can comfortably afford the journey may consider going to Masjid Ji‘ranah to enter into Ihram, following the example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. However, those who are elderly, have health concerns, face physical difficulties, or cannot reasonably afford the additional journey may enter into Ihram from Masjid Aisha (Tan‘im), following the established example of the Prophet ﷺ with regard to ‘Aisha (رضي الله عنها). There should be no hardship, criticism, or judgment concerning a pilgrim’s choice. Both are valid options for entering into Ihram for Umrah, provided the relevant conditions are fulfilled. May Allah grant us the ability to follow the Sunnah of His beloved Messenger ﷺ with sincerity, ease, and understanding, and may He accept the Umrah of every pilgrim. Ameen.
