LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, USA — A caregiver has been charged after allegedly recording an incident in which a 92-year-old man was accused of trying to suffocate his wife at a senior living facility. Bert Morris, 92, faces charges of attempted m¥rder involving domestic violence and first-degree strangulation after the October 28 incident, according to police and court records. Terrence Gabie, the woman’s caregiver, was also arrested and charged with knowingly abusing or neglecting a vulnerable adult. Authorities allege he recorded a 71-second video instead of providing assistance. According to court records, another worker at the facility eventually intervened and separated the couple. During Gabie’s arraignment, his attorney argued that he had tried to intervene but was unable to stop Morris. “So I see this as being one big ball of confusion,” his attorney said. “You walk in on something; you try to resolve it. You can't get it resolved. You start to film. Another nurse comes in, going to get the guy off. The only reason he was filming was to make sure everyone knew he wasn't the one doing it.” Morris pleaded not guilty, and a judge set his bond at $150,000. Gabie also pleaded not guilty and was released on a personal-recognizance bond, according to additional local reporting. Both men were scheduled for preliminary hearings on November 6. The case remains under investigation, and the charges are allegations—not convictions. #BertMorris #TerrenceGabie #LouisvilleKentuckyUSA #SeniorCare #japd
