@ao.neko_: There is a man who lives across from me, directly from my porch to his. He has no family, he has no pets, he has no lover. The man is alone, completely and utterly rejected by the natural world. I watch every morning as he emerges from his house, an old raggedy house, to smoke a cigarette. He never smiled, he never frowned, he never portrayed any emotion. It was as if he to had rejected the world back. Every day, for years on end. The man emerged. It was routine, it was a comforting constant. Even if no person, no thing, had ever felt any affection towards the man, I enjoyed his presence. One particularly peaceful morning, with the sun only beginning to rise, the birds louder than normal, the sky a beautiful orange, I look out from my porch. I sit, I wait, thinking that nothing will be different today. How could it be? It was too perfect. The man never emerged, he had died that day. The rope bought just a week before. I wondered how a beautiful day such as this could facilitate such horror. I thought back on the man, I wondered why he had never shown this pain, this suffering he held. It was only then I realize the man had not rejected the world. The man yearned for it, he simply could never gain its want back. The man wished for his last breath after accepting this evil fact. What grotesque design, how could the world reject a man? how could nature not love its own? The man had no funeral, the man had no visitors to his gravestone. I do not know what came of his body. I pray that his last breath was as sweet as he imangined. That it gave him the relief he always desired. I have to believe it did, what cruel world wouldnt offer that mercy atleast? The man was never thought of, and after my passing he never will be thought of again. That will be his legacy, his curse.
