Don’t listen to those “ oh just wait until they’re older 🙄” parents. Every stage of being a mother is hard, but every stage comes with immeasurably beautiful moments that will still stop you in your tracks. I miss every version of him I ever got to meet, but if I didn’t say goodbye to them, I’d never get to meet the next. It’s bittersweet but I promise more sweet than bitter. Mines nine now and he still thinks I hung the moon. No, I don’t get baby kisses or late night snuggles with feedings and I will always miss them. But now, now I get my favorite person sharing my favorite books, movies, and songs. I get to learn what he loves and share interest with him. He’s grown to have my nose and my chin that I always hated, but they’re so perfect on him. He’s taught me how to love myself better, he’s taught me patience, he makes me like myself more. It’s such a gift. So yes, cherish the now, yes, you WILL miss it, but I can’t wait for you to see what’s to come 🥹.

So I used to be really grossed out by parents who kissed their babies on the lips and around the lips... I had my child and was OVERTAKEN by this sudden urge to give them little smooches on the lips and like you are now. To the point where I googled it and asked like why do I feel like this??? Turns out it's a biological instinct and you're picking up all the germs from their face that you're already immune to, and your body literally immunizes and changes your breast milk to help baby fight those germs. Still think it's the coolest thing ever.
