@justme.findingmyself: Is setting up business in Singapore too easy? Before we get into that , I used to share this study with my clients - Sheep, Wolves, Sheep in Wolves Clothing and Wolves in Sheep’s clothing. By enlarge most people are rule followers Now setting up business in Singapore is easy- Incorporate online with $1 paid up No min capital that bites Compliance after set up relatively light compared to many other countries Then we seen these Phoenix Entreprenuers Start a company, collect money, rack up bills debts unpaid salaries then strike off Same Directors start a new company Happens in F&B, renovation, construction, subcontracting, trading Even if you take the company to court and win - you pay your lawyers first, when you try to garnish or seize assets- there’s nothing When you win you still lose! Then to go after directors personally - costs more money and time You’re left holding the bill, the serial phoniex entrepreneur restarts something new Foreign money makes it worse If the company has capital outside or the parent or sister companies are outside Singapore - it’s almost an impossible task So what can protect honest people? #fyp #tiktok #foryou #foryourpage #singapore

and there have been companies with foreign directors, exploiting government grant schemes by submitting fabricated documents and false information to obtain substantial amounts of public funding over the years. The schemes provided grants of up to $200,000 to help businesses upgrade their technology, purchase equipment and improve productivity. I seen these companies worked with overseas equipment suppliers to produce inflated invoices for grant applications. The government would then subsidise the purchases based on these inflated figures, while the actual machines supplied could be significantly cheaper and of much lower value. Years later, some of these machines would simply be sold off as scrap. Just imagine how much public money could have been siphoned into private pockets under the guise of upgrading Singapore’s industries and technology. The bigger question is: where were the checks and controls? How could such questionable documents, inflated invoices and suspicious transactions go undetected? We could be talking about millions of dollars in public funds being misused. It is not just a question of grant abuse; it raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of government oversight and accountability. And the problem is there is no more true meritocracy in the government since Lee Hsien Loong and people who know nothing, can do nothing and don’t bother about result are all put in the critical roles of the government today!

But for pet industry which I’m in is not easy . First we need to go school for a week ( Monday to sat 9am to 5pm ) then we need to go for test and interview then we need to renovate the petshop to let them inspect ( takes about 4 to 5 months ) during that period we are still paying rent without even starting biz

This is a good content, may I also add in used-car dealers is also one. The holy trinity which comprises used-car dealers, contractors and ID companies. Not slamming everyone in the trade but there are bad sheep taking advantage of those sheepish honest clients. Like what you say, close shop and run, civil suit to claim get awarded but then their assets would have moved and also frozen if undergoing receivership. The time spent on implementing BCRS could have been spent on forming a few task forces to solve this once and for all.
