A prime example of politicians not giving a damn about the people they are supposed to serve. The City of Cape Town has allocated R1.1 billion for Phase 1 of its Advanced Metering Infrastructure programme to roll out smart wireless water meters, yet countless residents still live without basic plumbing and sanitation. How can the City justify prioritising advanced technology when so many people are still waiting for the most basic services? Where are the priorities?
