THIS DOESN’T BELONG IN A CHILDREN’S FILM… In Matilda — the Roald Dahl adaptation, the 90s classic, the film everyone grew up watching — a neglected child quietly develops powers that let her move objects with her mind while every adult around her spirals between incompetence and outright cruelty. No training. No explanation. No one in Matilda (1996) stepping in to ask what’s actually happening here. Just Matilda Wormwood reading books, surviving chaos, dealing with Miss Trunchbull, and very casually bending reality when she’s had enough. We grew up calling Matilda a family film. A kids movie. A comfort watch. A 90s nostalgia classic. But looking back at Matilda now… it feels like something else entirely. Like the beginning of a much bigger franchise that never quite arrives. We talked about Matilda (1996), Roald Dahl, Miss Trunchbull, Bruce Bogtrotter, the cake scene, Charles Xavier, the X-Men and all the strange details, dark humour, and chaotic logic that make this film hit completely differently as an adult. Link in bio if you want to CONSUUUME! #matilda #matilda1996 #roalddahl #film #comedy
