@vickybahi508: Bread Spill Shuts A1(M)?! Bowburn Lorry Chaos WATCH TILL THE END! Watch till the end, because a bread lorry has shut one of Britain's busiest motorways. Just after five this morning, a Warburtons lorry overturned on the A1(M) just past the Bowburn junction in County Durham, and spilled its load of bread right across both carriageways. The lorry flattened the central reservation barrier and came to rest lying across the road. Firefighters from Spennymoor and Durham rushed to the scene and freed the driver, who was taken to hospital for treatment. The North East Ambulance Service says it sent a double crewed ambulance, a clinical team leader and two specialist response vehicles, and the one patient was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham. Fire crews say they left the scene by quarter to six, but the road stayed shut for hours while recovery teams worked to upright the lorry and clear the bread. Police say the northbound carriageway is fully closed between Bowburn and the Carville Interchange, while southbound traffic is squeezed onto the hard shoulder only. National Highways is warning of delays of up to fifty minutes heading north and forty minutes heading south, with traffic diverted through the slip roads. A major clean up is underway to clear what they call a significant amount of debris. So if you are driving in County Durham today, find another route.
