@vanessameyersweden: In order to navigate uncertainty, we naturally gravitate towards explanatory frameworks that reinforce our existing world view. They help us make sense of complexity, but can also limit what we’re able to see. One way to challenge this bias is through storytelling. By turning a framework or ideology into a story, and exploring it from different perspectives, we begin to realize there is more than one single interpretation of the story. As we retell different parts of the story, we change how we represent the problem. This allows us to move between perspectives, recognise previously overlooked connections, and understand the situation at different levels of abstraction. So frameworks are very helpful for navigating uncertainty. But storytelling is a way to loosen the grip these frameworks tend to have on how we perceive and interpret the world.
