Management here- I’m sorry your PTO got denied, I ask everyone to submit their request 3 months in advance up to 1 year only. PTO is not promised but it is my job to try to give you the day off, that means switch people around, that means even giving you options to swap with others to make it happen, if it’s due to shortages then sorry but that means no one is getting PTO because that wouldn’t make any sense. What I mean with shortages is people on FMLA, maternity leave etc not just a day off kind of shortages. Sick calls are not part of shortages since that’s not in advance. It might go against you if you call out the day you requested since it is already known that you wanted that day and got PTO denied. They should be giving you options before it’s just flat out denied

Yeah I stopped treating is as a request. In every "request" I say "I will be unavailable during this time". Up to them to figure it out. 🤷♂️

It’s the nanagers job to get coverage. Your PTO can’t get denied bc it’s part of your compensation and you request isn’t permission but a notice that you using your benefit days earned.

I put in 4 months in advance for vacation & that week came for me to leave… supervisor said you’ll have to miss it & work.. but his lead guy is only a “troubleshooter” not someone that can cover you 🙄 shitty company

But let me guess, salary manager comes in late, leaves early, doesn’t answer calls when not there (emergency calls)…. I think staff should do yearly reviews on their managers.
