So, so bad! He shouldn’t have added, “even if they don’t do anything.” That statement makes the whole argument even more troubling. What is the point of leaving behind a huge amount of money in the bank while infrastructure deteriorates, hospitals remain inadequate, the education system struggles, and the economy stagnates? The purpose of public funds is not to accumulate impressive figures in bank accounts but to improve the lives of the people. What is the value of a financial surplus if citizens continue to suffer from poor roads, failing public services, inadequate healthcare, and a struggling economy? Responsible leadership is measured not by how much money a government leaves untouched in the treasury or invests, but by how effectively it deploys public resources to improve people’s lives and secure their future.
