I’m not an organic chemist, but as a quality control chemist, I can distinguish Methanol and Acetonitrile by smell. Methanol’s semi-sweet and Acetonitrile’s semi-bitter lol

In my *Guess* the sample exam by experiminting I knew all my sample's functional group just by their smell (I almost died cause I inhalled H2S vapor)

Wrong way to smell it. In case it‘s a toxic chemical, you should NEVER stick your head over it! Always hold it slightly infront of you and wave the smell towards you
