I’ve been noticing something lately, and I feel like it needs to be said. Why is it that so many Protestant pages spend their time criticizing, mocking, or misrepresenting the Catholic Church? Now, don’t get me wrong. I have absolutely no problem with someone questioning Catholic teachings or wanting to have a respectful discussion about Scripture. That’s how we learn from one another. But there’s a big difference between having an honest theological discussion and constantly attacking someone else’s faith. Here’s what I don’t understand. With thousands of Protestant denominations around the world, why don’t we see more posts talking about the positive things happening within those churches? Why not share their accomplishments, their charitable work, their ministries, or the good they’re doing in their communities? Why does the Catholic Church seem to be the constant target? And here’s something else I’ve always found interesting. Protestant denominations don’t even agree with one another on some pretty important Christian teachings. There are disagreements about baptism, salvation, the Eucharist, Church authority, and how Scripture should be interpreted. If the Bible is supposed to be the sole infallible authority for Christian doctrine, why are there so many different interpretations of these important matters? That’s a legitimate question, and I believe it deserves an honest answer. But here’s the thing. I’m not saying this because I dislike Protestants. Quite the opposite. I consider them my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I respect their sincere desire to follow Him. What I don’t respect is deliberately spreading false information about what Catholics believe. You don’t have to agree with Catholicism. You don’t even have to like every teaching of the Church. But at least take the time to understand those teachings before publicly condemning them. And Catholics, that same responsibility applies to us. We should never misrepresent Protestant beliefs either. At the end of the day, shouldn’t we be spending more time bringing people closer to Jesus Christ instead of constantly tearing one another down? Jesus prayed in John 17:21, “So that they may all be one.” We may disagree on theology, but disagreement doesn’t have to turn into hatred or disrespect. Defend what you believe. Speak the truth. But do it with humility, understanding, and Christian charity. God bless you all. #CatholicFaith #CatholicApologetics #ChristianUnity #RomanCatholic #Christianity
