You see, after the sermon, the song they were singing was, “Me Nyame, kae me” — “My God, remember me.”
The message behind that song is simple: Lord, I have nobody apart from You. You are my source of help, my strength, and my salvation. I depend on You because I cannot do everything by my own power.
But what happens immediately after the preaching? Sometimes, the prayer takes a completely different direction. Instead of continuing in the spirit of humility, dependence on God, and faith in His power, the prayer becomes a declaration of war against the devil, as though everything depends on our ability to destroy our enemies before we can receive what God has for us.
