not gonna lie this took a LOT longer than I thought it would LMAO cause originally I thought it’d be quick since I’d already done a flins one and that was pretty straightforward and then I got to the point where I needed to think of words to describe him and I just. kinda went blank. and it wasn’t really that I didn’t have anything in mind I was just VERY nervous because I’m terrified of accidentally mischaracterizing him so I spent DAYS thinking about it and I think I finally got it. and because I’m someone who will use any excuse to talk about lohen I’m gonna explain my thought process behind each word 🥹 Lament - to express sorrow, mourning, or regret This one most definitely just clicked for me. Sorrow, mourning, and regret just fit him SO unbelievably well. The sorrow part of the definition can easily be applied to all of his past experiences. (Such as the kidnapping and his encounter with rerir) I feel like the mourning part is pretty self-explanatory with adorno’s passing and whatnot, but the regret part is what solidified my decision to use this word the most. Regret for not being stronger when he was kidnapped, regret for not doing more for adorno, things like that. Hypervigilance - extreme or excessive vigilance : the state of being highly or abnormally alert to potential danger or threat This one is pretty straightforward. I decided to go with it when I was thinking of all his scenes and remembered the one teapot line where he says “when I opened my eyes this morning to an unfamiliar ceiling, my first reaction was to reach for my knife.” Not to mention how he has everyone’s footsteps and methods memorized. (Like how he remembers the loud ‘thump’ of eula’s boots or how amber goes to the window if someone doesn’t answer the door) Obviously the latter can easily be excused as him simply being a knight and needing that sort of attention to detail, but still. I figured it was worth mentioning nonetheless. Dissociation - the state of being dissociated: such as the separation of whole segments of the personality or of discrete mental processes from the mainstream of consciousness or of behavior This one is also pretty straightforward I feel like, but I specifically thought of it when I remembered how lohen reacted after being rescued and when he got to see adorno one last time. This could just be taken as a personal headcanon but I dunno it’s just really hard to miss the very distant look in his eyes in those scenes. It always seems like he just shuts down when a situation requires too much emotion so that’s why I chose this one !! I know all of this is already pretty obvious if you have a good read on lohen but I figured I’d explain it anyway for those who care to read it or don’t know much about his character. I love lohen so so much and I didn’t wanna rush this edit by putting shallow words because he deserves SO much more than that. so yeah I’m sorry this took a while.
