SAVE this one for cold season! 🤧   And SHARE it with a friend, your partner or the family group chat!   I swear by turmeric milk, aka haldi doodh or golden milk. 🥛✨  It’s been part of Indian households for generations, has roots in Ayurvedic medicine, and it’s one of my go-tos as a pediatrician and mom when the sniffles start.   I drink it as soon as I feel under the weather, and through the illness if the cough and cold hang around. Cold viruses cause a lot of inflammation in the airways, and turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory properties.   Good news, kids over 1 can enjoy it too! I don’t measure, everything is to taste and memory. My only must-haves are turmeric + black pepper, since pepper helps your body absorb curcumin, the main active compound in turmeric. Ginger, cinnamon and cayenne are optional, so adjust or skip based on what your family likes.   Why I love it: ✔️ Anti-inflammatory, which may help calm irritated airways ✔️ Antioxidant properties that support the immune system ✔️ Warm and soothing for a sore throat and chest ✔️ A cozy ritual that gets fluids into a sick kiddo   🐐 But saline is the G.O.A.T of cold care for kids and us. I use it whenever noses feel dry and at the first sign of a cold, not only for comfort but to clear virus, keep mucous membranes lubricated, and reduce chance of viral replication.   Recipe (watch and save for details!):  Heat milk of choice, add spices, sweeten with honey (kids over 1 only), sip warm.   Safety notes: ❤️ Only for kids over 1 (no honey under 12 months) ❤️ Buy turmeric from trusted brands or grate fresh root ❤️ Golden milk is a complement, never a replacement for medical care ❤️ Pregnant or on blood thinners? Check with your clinician first as too much turmeric is also a blood thinner (think high volumes)   For more on how I manage colds in my home, head to the link in bio to read my free newsletter,
