@middleeasteye: Bashar al-Assad is gone, but hundreds of Syrians are still held in Lebanon’s notorious Roumieh prison. More than 600 prisoners went on hunger strike for over 30 days after the suspension of a controversial general amnesty law aiming to reduce overcrowding. Around 72 were hospitalised in critical condition. The prisoners’ families committee says at least seven died from medical neglect or pre-existing illnesses. Among the strikers were Syrians arrested during the country's civil war - some over alleged links to the opposition. Many of them have been imprisoned for over a decade without trial. Earlier this year, the new government in Damascus signed a deal with Beirut to bring Syrian prisoners home, but that did not include all Syrians. So what comes next for those still in Lebanon?
