@usct.dfw: Mavericks CEO Rick Welts to Retire. Dallas Mavericks CEO Rick Welts plans to retire at the end of 2026, the team announced Wednesday. Team president Ethan Casson is set to take over. Both executives joined the Mavericks in 2025. Welts, 73, is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and has spent nearly five decades as an executive in professional basketball and sports.
