@abdimarihotmarbun: Keeping the Light Alive. - St Narcissus of Jerusalem - October 29th An early Bishop of Jerusalem, St Narcissus is remembered for an extraordinary Easter miracle, steadfast leadership, and a ministry that continued into remarkable old age. More about St Narcissus of Jerusalem: Narcissus led Jerusalem's Christian community in the late second and early third centuries. Around 190, he jointly presided over a gathering of bishops that supported celebrating Easter on Sunday, helping affirm a practice that would shape Christian worship. The historian Eusebius recounts his best-known miracle. When the church ran out of lamp oil during the Easter vigil, Narcissus prayed over water and had it poured into the lamps. It became oil, allowing the celebration to continue. False accusations later drove him into retirement, but he eventually returned to a joyful welcome. In his final years, Bishop Alexander shared his responsibilities, supporting a ministry said to have continued beyond the age of one hundred. Bring a little light to someone's day. May St Narcissus inspire us to persevere through injustice and welcome help when we need it.
