Smart panels are complex devices and complex devices fail at a much higher rate than a simple device. When I worked on spacecraft for NASA, we turned this KISS: keep it simple stupid. No thanks to a smart panel. Maybe a subpanel but not for my main panel.

Is that an electrician dictated it wrong, he said you could run everything. When really? If you were to turn on everything in either the new or old panel It would overload the generator unless you have a very expensive generator

Unless it also has a nut server to allow devices to shut down before power cuts on the circuit, it’s not that great. I don’t need entire circuits shut down when the fridge or heater isn’t running. Those cycle on and off. Batteries are cheap enough that they should be the main focus.
