@gloriaelendu_: Sometimes, you meet people at the lowest points of their lives. You feed them, shelter them, support them financially and help them find their feet. But when they finally begin to stand on their own, their priorities change. They develop their own opinions, make independent decisions and begin to explore possibilities beyond the life they once knew. And suddenly, you feel betrayed. But remember, the person you helped survive may eventually want to live beyond the circumstances in which you met them. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs helps us understand how our priorities and motivations can change as our circumstances improve. When survival consumes your attention, you may have little room to think about self expression, independence and personal fulfilment. But when those basic needs become more secure, you may begin to desire more than survival. You may want to discover yourself, take risks and make your own choices. That does not automatically make you ungrateful. Of course, independence is not an excuse to disrespect those who helped you. Gratitude matters. But gratitude is not permanent submission, and helping someone does not give you ownership of their future. If you love someone, make room for their growth. Do not punish them for becoming independent simply because you were more comfortable when they needed you. Love the person, not just the version of them that needs you. 📖 Galatians 6:2 (NIV) “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Helping people through difficult seasons is an expression of love. But healthy support should respect their dignity and allow them room to grow. The goal is not to make people dependent on you forever. It is to help where you can, love without controlling, and respect their capacity to direct their own lives. #HumanBehaviour #PsychologyOfRelationships #HealthyBoundaries #PersonalGrowth #ChristianLiving

Speaking from a Christian perspective, I think we have to realise that we are all but vessels unto God. Do the good we can, when and how we can. Then look to God for your reward. Even with my children, I say to God, see your girl ooo. While it’s good to honour those who’ve helped us though.

NOOO. Most times it depends how the help came. You only resent a person who made you suffer while helping you. Or mocked you. Or gave you after a very long begging. Or used you or abused you. Or tormented you. There are levels to help please! THERE ARE LEVELS

I also think people who have issues with people growing beyond their help have the "I made you who you are" or "if not for me" complex. They want your becoming to revolve around them and be within the limits they permit.

"How precisely did you treat them when they were at that lowest?" is the question they will not answer honestly 👌🏼. Yes, they needed you, and yes, you helped them, but how exactly did you make them feel?👌🏼

Yes it's why I tell people help people If you want to help people not because you want anything in return. There's no guarantee that person would help you when you're down or would acknowledge or regard you when they're in a higher level in life.

at the end of day the solution is if you're going to do something for anyone, do it without expections and the goodness of your heart

though there are people who might have helped you when you were down or stayed with you only to use it against you as a weapon or a ticket to misbehave with you or mistreat you thinking you are indebted to them to take everything they ever throw at you because what they did for you when you were down

In my own opinion you can self actualize without being rude or ungrateful! Some people make little people effort in the name of self actualizing

Well said. Any adjustment you didn't make at the time the need was prevalent, dont act on it when the situation changes.

Assist without expectation, expect people to change and it’s best to have the mindset that allows other people to around you to be able to want what they believe is best for themselves without you being a hindrance or an obstacle.
