The stock market is not an accurate measure of the health of the economy. You can point to record-breaking markets and rising corporate profits all day long, but that means very little to the people who are going to bed hungry, living paycheck to paycheck, or sleeping on the streets. The real measure of an economy isn't how well Wall Street is doing. It's how well ordinary Americans are doing. If people can't afford food, housing, and basic necessities, then we have an economic problem, regardless of what the stock market says.
