@dr.smileykylie: Replying to @Callmeburnsy 1️⃣ Y raise holds: These help build strength in the lower traps which can help pull the shoulders down & take tension off of the upper traps! 2️⃣ Prone goalpost liftoff holds: These teach us to keep our shoulder blades down / in & avoid compensating by shrugging up with the upper traps! We get some nice activation of the middle & lower traps & the shoulder external rotators on this one to really help take tension off of the upper traps who like to do the work of these typically weaker muscles! 3️⃣ Prone Y raise holds: We’re truly starting to work against gravity here to really start building strength in these muscles + there is an added proprioceptive challenge here as we focus on avoiding hyperextension & controlling our position / maintaining the Y position without help from our eyes! Note: On movements 2️⃣&3️⃣ I have a rolled up hand towel underneath my forehead to keep my neck neutral & for comfort! #hypermobility #hypermobileehlersdanlossyndrome #connectivetissuedisorder #hEDS #coathangerpain
For the level two exercise, I’ve seen some people do that, but they really squeeze their shoulder blades together as they lift. Is that like a more advanced version or does that target different muscles compared to how it’s done in this vid?

What if you can’t raise your arms like that because you have scapular muscle atrophy ?😅
