As an AuDHD woman, that time to myself late at night is more restorative than a full night’s sleep.

I’m curious if she has the subtitles on the tv? I can’t watch tv without them. I pretty much know my comfort show(s) word for word but still put the subtitles on even if listening to music. Late diagnosed AUDHD this year at 41.

I have to have that time to myself as well. My husband goes to bed. I stay up for a couple hours and just decompress if I don’t get that, I feel off.

Music and reading at the same time is the best way for me to relax.

Weirdly enough my "self care" has become doing the dishes or laundry with my ear buds in. Everyone tries to help but it is very important that it be solitary chores. It's soothing to just shut down into myself and do some kind of mindless task.

I used to pace ALOT, and bounce my legs. Taking magnesium supplements really helped me. I get that it’s comforting, but I was tired of moving.

I have a really hard time stimming with music in headphones. It’s like I also have to feel the floor shake along with the music 😂

Daytime lightbulbs make me insane! They almost make me sick. Lamps are the way to go.

if i dont take the time to reset, it can make me physically ill. it usually does. I'll end up with light fever and vomiting bc my body cant handle too much irregular input. its absolutely necessary to survive.

I used to listen to music that loud and now I have tinnitus and cannot escape the absolutely constant screeching in my ears. Take that for what it’s worth

I wake up every night from 2:30-3:30am and make a cup of hot herbal tea, go to the bathroom, and listen to electronic music at full volume in my headphones. Every single light will remain off and I just go through the motions and routine in the dark with really loud music.

My 17 year old has always skipped back/forth with headphones on (music BLASTING) in a dim room nearby the family. Particularly in evenings. I’ve always wondered how that would work in a relationship and well, there it is. You’re just cool with it. And her partner will need to be too. Thank you for sharing. 💗
